Our Mission Statement: Honor the Fallen Foundation is dedicated to preserving the memory of service members who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country by supporting their families and providing assistance where needed.
Honor The Fallen Foundation (HTF) is a 501 (c)(3), nonprofit, non-partisan organization dedicated to honoring the memory of American service men and women, civilian contractors, and government employees who have died while supporting the war on terrorism both abroad and in the U.S.
Honor The Fallen Foundation was started in November of 2004 by former USAF Pararescueman Dave Cruz, who was inspired by SRA Jason Cunningham, a Pararescueman killed in action on March 4, 2002 in the battle of Takur. SRA Cunningham was posthumously awarded the Air Force Cross for saving 10 lives. Even after he was mortally wounded and quickly deteriorating, he continued to direct patient movement and transferred care to another medic. In the end, his distinct efforts led to the successful delivery of 10 gravely wounded Americans to life-saving medical treatment. Upon learning of SRA Cunningham's death, Cruz felt the need to do something to honor those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. There was no better way to honor the fallen than to help the families they leave behind. Honor The Fallen Foundation opened its doors in 2004 with the help of Gold Star Mothers, Jackie Cunningham and Patricia Marck who's son, CPL Matthew Commons, was also killed in the battle of Takur. Both Gold Star Mothers were first to serve on our board of directors. Mr and Mrs Cunningham continue to be strong supporters of Honor The Fallen Foundation to this day.
